If you are entrusted with bringing about change, you will likely possess the knowledge needed to advance the organisation and you might have a plan — but knowledge is not enough. You have to bring yourself to each interaction in a deeply authentic way. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
There has to be this pioneer, the individual who has the courage and the ambition to overcome the obstacles that always develop when one tries to do something worthwhile; especially when it is new and different.
The bottom line in managing your emotions is that you should put others – not yourself – first in how you handle and process them. Whether you delay or display your emotions should not be for your own gratification. You should ask yourself, What does the team need? Not, What will make me feel better?
